I haven’t been blogging as much as normal; my apologies. I don’t have much of an excuse, except that I can’t tear myself away from the kitchen. As usual I’ve been doing my fair share of cooking and entertaining lately. Last week Nola’s Godfather, Chris, came in town
and we had a great visit. I’ve been stocking up on food from the farmer’s market so for dinner I cooked a tomato tart, sauteed chard, and corn pudding, which we ate with some grilled chicken. Dee-lish! As usual, it was fun getting to spend time with Chris, who came up from New York City. Nola loved him and can’t wait to see him again at Christmas. Chris is Dru’s “oldest” friend. He’s not old, even though he does have white hair.
On Friday night we went to Robbins Farm Park and watched the first couple hours of the Red Sox / Yankee’s game. Although the Sox lost it was a lot of fun to watch baseball outside on a big screen. The “Friends of Robbins Farm Park” hosted the event and sold hot dogs, cokes, and cracker jacks.
Nola especially liked it. Here is a picture of Nola enjoying her first outdoor baseball event:

You can’t see it but she donned her pink Red Sox onsie to the game. She’s a true fan. On Friday I made my first attempt at canning; I made 3 quarts of pear relish, which I haven’t tried yet but hopefully it’ll be pretty good. Then, on Saturday I made a grape pie with Concord grapes from Travis and Diana’s vine. I plan on making some jam if they give me more grapes; the pie was really good.

Don’t ask me why I decide to wait until I have a baby to start baking pies and canning. It must have something to do with my newfound domesticity.
Here are a couple of cute pictures of Nola to tide you over:

When I was a baby I sucked two of my fingers; like mother like daughter:
